Our Vision

Life in the Sixth Form is lively and stimulating and full of opportunities where we offer in excess of 30 subjects at AS and A2 level. The Sixth Form Centre at Presdales is separate to the main school complex in the Mansion Building and comprises a spacious common room, three dedicated ICT suites, a library and an independent study room.

Relationships between staff and students are warm and supportive. Students maintain previous friendships and take opportunities to establish new ones through small, single year tutor groups and small subject classes. The level of care, guidance and support for all students is outstanding. They rightly feel that they are part of an amazing community which has so much to offer.

The Sixth Form students contribute enormously to the quality of our community by showing  a sense of responsibilty, an interest in learning for its own sake, an understanding of the value of service and team work. Students grow in maturity and are encouraged to take responsibility in a wide variety of areas including a preparation for adult life, in higher education or the workplace.

The majority of students stay on at Presdales after Year 11. In addition students join us from a range of other schools to take advantage of the broad range of A Level subjects on offer here and our excellent track record of results. Since 1999 we have welcomed boys into our Sixth Form. We have been delighted with their involvement in the Sixth Form and the school as a whole and look forward to seeing a growing number join us.

Our vision is clear: we aim to be a centre of excellence where all students are passionate about their learning and driven to achieve. Indeed our recent results show 80% of students achieving A*–C grades in their A level studies with 28% achieving A/A* grades.

“Students make outstanding progress and achieve exceptional standards in their work. They speak very highly of the school, including the careers guidance and the support they receive in making applications to university. Their enjoyment is strong. Teaching is of an outstanding quality, as is the way the school cares for students and ensures that they flourish. As a result, their personal development is outstanding. Retention rates are exceptionally high.”
